Development of an Augmented Reality-Integrated Geometry Transformation Pop-Up Book Based on Batik Motifs To Enhance Mathematical Understanding And Cultural Knowledge  Among Slow Learners

Abstract

The low level of mathematical understanding among slow learner students is an urgent issue that requires serious attention, as their intellectual limitations often cause difficulties in comprehending abstract mathematical concepts. If not addressed appropriately, this condition may lead to poor learning outcomes, limited problem-solving abilities, and an increasingly wider academic gap compared to their peers. This study aims to develop Pop-Up Book Geometric Transformation media integrated with Augmented Reality based on batik motifs to improve mathematical understanding and cultural knowledge of slow learner students. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the ADDIE model. The research subjects were 32 ninth-grade students at SMPN 2 Batu. Data were collected using validation questionnaires, pre-tests, post-tests, and response questionnaires for both students and teachers. Data analysis techniques included assessing the media's validity, effectiveness, and practicality. The results showed a content validity score of 97% and a media validity score of 88%, both categorized as "very valid". The effectiveness results obtained an N-Gain score of 0.48 which falls into the "medium" category or meaning "moderately effective". The practicality of the media was assessed by teacher and student responses, yielding scores of 92.5% and 86.9%, respectively, both categorized as "very practical". Based on these findings, it is concluded that Pop-Up Book Geometric Transformation media integrated with Augmented Reality based on batik motifs is feasible to improve mathematical understanding and cultural knowledge of slow learner students.
