Design and Construction of an Electric Whip for the Implementation of Criminal Law in Aceh

Abstract


The implementation of caning punishment in Aceh as regulated in Qanun Jinayat requires an effective, measurable method that is in accordance with the principles of humanity. This study aims to design and build an electric-based caning device that can adjust the strength of the caning as needed. This study uses an experimental method with design and testing stages. This system allows voltage control from 100V to 150V, where each voltage level produces different strength and duration of the caning. The test results show that a voltage of 100V takes 10.00 seconds for 10 canings, while a voltage of 150V takes 56.82 seconds. The results of the jinayat punishment test in Aceh are 3 punishments in the form of khalwat (indecent/ikhtilat) carried out with a voltage of 100V to 150V, the number of lashes is 10-30 times, the implementation time ranges from 36.21 seconds to 1 minute 5 seconds, the punishment of khamar (alcohol) is carried out with a voltage of 100V to 150V, the number of lashes is 40-60 times, the implementation time ranges from 1 minute 8 seconds to 2 minutes 7.8 seconds, and then the punishment of zina (sexual relations outside of marriage) is carried out with a voltage of 100V to 150V, the number of lashes is 100 times, the implementation time ranges from 2 minutes 12 seconds to 3 minutes 15 seconds, in this test there was an improvement in the voltage of 145V and 150V because the rattan was damaged in a bent state. This voltage-based force setting allows for adjustment of the strength of the whip based on the physical condition of the convict, in line with the principles of justice and humanity in the implementation of Jinayat law in Aceh province.
