Family Harmony and Quality of Life
A Personal Relationship Approach of Gabriel Marcel in the Age of Social Media Networks

Social media is a platform widely utilized by the majority of people around the world. These media platforms offer numerous conveniences for people to interact with one another, whether they are near or far, known or unknown, or newly acquainted. However, these conveniences do not always bring benefits; they can also cause harm if misused. One current issue is that several cases of disharmony among families in Indonesia are caused not only by economic factors but also by infidelity via social media. This research aims to measure the impact of quality of life and household harmony in relation to social media usage in the city of Semarang, the capital city of Central Java Province. The method used in this research is quantitative, with the subjects being married couples in Semarang. Data collection was conducted through a survey using questionnaires distributed to 131 respondents in Semarang. Data analysis was performed using Validity Test, Reliability Test, and Regression Analysis with SEM PLS software. The data was then analyzed using Gabriel Marcel's theory of human relational existence. This study shows that there is an impact of social media on household harmony in Semarang. Collaboration between departments in Semarang Province is needed to raise awareness of proper and correct social media usage. Additionally, strengthening the meaning of human relationships between husband and wife is necessary to adapt to technological advancements, ensuring that family resilience is not fragile. This research has a Technology Readiness Level of 1, resulting in a conceptual model to improve family harmony.References
