Center for Research and Publication, Institute for Research and Community Service Universitas Islam Negeri Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh, Aceh, Indonesia, has published Jurnal Ilmiah Islam Futura (JIIF) since 2001 (print version only). The journal is published two times per year (2 Number / Volume), in February and August, which focuses on contemporary issues of Islamic Studies (Dirāsah Islāmiyyah). This journal's publication aims to enrich the wealth of Islamic sciences developed at present through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches.

Since 2011 (Vol.11, No.1, 2011), the Jurnal Ilmiah Islam Futura has been published in a new format, both physical appearance (which follows the UNESCO standard and Standard Operating Procedure, which is adapted to the demands of a scientific journal in the present time. This journal provides the broadest possible opportunity for various groups to participate in the Islamic sciences' development discourse actively.

In order to widen its audiences, the online version of this journal was published in 2016. The first address of the online version of JIIF was www.islamfutura.org. However, since UIN Ar-Raniry had a new policy to unite all journals under one roof, JIIF changed the online version address: http://jurnal.ar-raniry.ac.id/index.php/islamfutura started on August 2016.
Through the publication of the Journal of Islam Futura, Islamic sciences' development is expected to involve various related disciplines collectively. This attempt can be either integrated (integrated) by presenting a variety of approaches and scientific methods relevant to each of these disciplines' needs. Thus, every discipline of Islamic sciences will complement each other and enrich the wealth of Islamic sciences comprehensively and integrally.

Jurnal Ilmiah Islam Futura has the primary academic mission to develop various Islamic studies based on contemporary Islamic perspective, particularly in Aceh and Indian Ocean. The word "Futura" means the future of Islam. The Islamic perspective is "how-view" oriented to Islam's values, which is the methodological foundation for the entire discipline of Islamic sciences. Historically, the Islamic perspective has colored the Islamic community's intellectual life, as reflected in scientists' and thinkers' views in the classical period. The perspective has evolved in Islamic discourses and will be expanded continuously to the present and the future. The historicity of the development is a necessity along with the Islamic community's intellectual demands in real life that increases dynamically.

In 2017 Jurnal Ilmiah Islam Futura has been accredited by Decree of the General Director of Strengthening Research and Development, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia No. 51/E/KPT/2017. Then in 2020, this accreditation status has been strengthened by the Decree of the Minister of Research and Technology/ National Research and Innovation Agency of Republic Indonesia Number 200/M/KPT/2020. In August 7, 2022 Jurnal Ilmiah Islam Futura was indexed by Scopus.
