Focus and Scope
Jurnal Pemikiran Islam (JPI) is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes scholarly works on the development of Islamic thought across various contexts—local, regional, and global. The journal focuses on the intersection of Islamic tradition and contemporary issues, drawing from the disciplines of religion, humanities, and social sciences.
JPI emphasizes studies in the following areas:
- Religion: Islamic theology (ʿilm al-kalām), Sufism and spirituality, Qur’anic interpretation, and prophetic traditions.
- Humanities: Islamic philosophy, ethics, hermeneutics, and the historical development of Islamic intellectual traditions.
- Social: The relationship between Islam and culture, education, local wisdom, and socio-political dynamics in Muslim societies.
The journal welcomes conceptual and empirical studies that explore Islamic ideas using philosophical, historical, textual, or social approaches, particularly those that reflect both classical depth and contemporary relevance. The journal also encourages interdisciplinary and critical approaches to Islamic thought that contribute to both academic discourse and societal development.
