Focus and Scope
Jurnal Pemikiran Islam (JPI) is a peer-reviewed open-access journal that publishes original and innovative scholarship on Islamic thought in local, regional, and global contexts. The journal welcomes contributions that explore the interaction between Islamic tradition and contemporary issues across religion, the humanities, and the social sciences.
Core areas include:
-
Religion: Islamic theology (ʿilm al-kalām), Sufism and spirituality, Qur’anic studies, and prophetic traditions (ḥadīth).
-
Humanities: Islamic philosophy, ethics, hermeneutics, intellectual history, and manuscript traditions.
-
Social: Islam and culture, education, local wisdom, and socio-political dynamics in Muslim societies.
JPI accepts conceptual and empirical studies employing philosophical, historical, textual, or socio-scientific approaches. We particularly value research that combines classical depth and contemporary relevance, adopts interdisciplinary methods, and contributes both to academic discourse and societal development.
