Peer Review Process

At-Taujih: Bimbingan dan Konseling Islam employs a double-blind peer review system to ensure impartiality and academic integrity. In this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review stages to promote objectivity and eliminate potential bias.

1. Initial Screening

All submitted manuscripts will undergo a preliminary assessment by the Editor-in-Chief. At this stage, the manuscript is evaluated for its alignment with the journal’s focus and scope, its structural completeness, and adherence to the author guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these basic criteria will be rejected without entering the peer-review process.

2. Plagiarism Check

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will be subject to a plagiarism detection process using reliable tools (e.g., Turnitin or similar). Any manuscript found to contain a high similarity index or to be a duplicate publication will either be returned to the author for clarification or rejected outright, in accordance with editorial policies.

3. Reviewer Assignment

Manuscripts deemed suitable and original are then assigned to two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field of study. The journal adopts a double-blind review policy, ensuring that neither authors nor reviewers are aware of each other’s identities.

4. Peer-Review Stage

Each reviewer will evaluate the manuscript based on several criteria, including originality, relevance, methodological rigor, clarity of analysis and arguments, contribution to the discipline, and adherence to academic writing standards. Reviewers are asked to provide a recommendation under one of the following categories:

  • Accepted without revisions

  • Accepted with minor revisions

  • Accepted with major revisions

  • Rejected

5. First Editorial Decision

An editorial decision will be made after both reviewers have submitted their evaluations. In cases where there is a significant discrepancy between the reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief will conduct an additional assessment and make the final decision. Authors will be notified of the outcome along with the reviewers’ comments and suggestions.

6. Revision Stage

If revisions are requested, the manuscript will be returned to the author(s) for modification. Authors are granted up to one month to revise and resubmit their manuscript along with a detailed response to the reviewers' comments. A maximum of two rounds of revision is permitted. Failure to meet the revision requirements within the allotted time may result in rejection.

7. Final Decision

After the revised manuscript is resubmitted, the Editor-in-Chief will make the final publication decision. If the manuscript fails to meet the expected quality after the second round of revision, it will be rejected. Accepted manuscripts will proceed to the final editing, formatting, and layout process before being published in the scheduled journal issue.
