peer-review process
All manuscripts submitted to Share: Jurnal Ekonomi dan Keuangan Islam undergo a rigorous peer-review process designed to ensure scholarly integrity, originality, and alignment with the journal’s scope. The journal employs a double-blind peer review system, wherein both the authors’ and reviewers’ identities are concealed to maintain objectivity and impartiality. Each submission is evaluated by experts in the relevant field based on academic rigor, the contribution to existing knowledge, and compliance with ethical research standards.
1. Initial Screening
Upon submission, the editorial board conducts a preliminary assessment to verify the manuscript’s relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, as well as adherence to formatting, referencing, and submission guidelines. Manuscripts that exhibit a similarity index exceeding 20% as detected by plagiarism detection software are rejected at this stage. Submissions requiring technical corrections may be returned to the authors for revision before entering the peer review phase.
2. Reviewer Assignment
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to a minimum of two independent reviewers with recognized expertise in the subject matter. Reviewer selection is based on academic credentials and the absence of any potential conflict of interest with the authors. To ensure anonymity, authors are required to remove all identifiers from the manuscript and include a separate title page with personal and institutional details. Reviewers are expected to complete their evaluations within two weeks.
3. Peer Review Evaluation
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:
-
Scholarly contribution and novelty
-
Clarity and coherence of arguments
-
Methodological soundness
-
Relevance to Islamic economics and socio-religious discourse
-
Compliance with ethical research and citation practices
Reviewers provide constructive feedback and make one of the following recommendations:
-
Accept without revision: The manuscript meets all scholarly and ethical standards and is suitable for publication as submitted.
-
Minor revision: Minor improvements are needed, such as language polishing, clarification of content, or formatting adjustments.
-
Major revision: Substantial revisions are required, especially in methodology, analysis, or argumentation. A revised version will be re-evaluated.
-
Reject: The manuscript fails to meet the journal’s academic or ethical standards and is not suitable for publication.
4. Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ reports, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision on whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected. In cases of conflicting reviews, a third reviewer may be consulted. Authors are notified of the editorial decision via the online submission system and receive anonymized reviewer feedback. The average time from submission to the initial decision is approximately one month, with accepted manuscripts moving to publication within 2 to 4 weeks.
5. Revision and Resubmission
For manuscripts requiring revision, authors must submit a revised version along with a detailed response letter addressing all reviewer comments. Deadlines for revisions are two weeks for minor revisions and up to four weeks for major revisions. Manuscripts undergoing major revisions are typically reassessed by the original reviewers. Minor revisions may be reviewed solely by the editorial team.
6. Final Publication
Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, typesetting, and proofreading prior to publication. The editorial team ensures that the final version meets the journal’s academic and ethical standards before being published in Share: Jurnal Ekonomi dan Keuangan Islam.
