Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the tahfidz Al-Qur’an programme as a medium for developing cognitive and character aspects of early childhood at Rumah Qur’an Humairah, Stabat District, Langkat Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving one tahfidz teacher, four parents, and four children aged 4–5 years. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participatory observations, and documentation, and analysed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal patterns of cognitive and character development emerging through the talaqqi method and gradual repetition adapted to the children’s age and learning styles. Support from teachers and parents played a crucial role in maintaining the children’s motivation and consistency in memorisation. The tahfidz programme contributes to fostering religious behaviour, discipline, and focused memory, although challenges such as limited classroom space and novice teacher capacity remain. This study emphasises that integrating tahfidz into early childhood education can serve as a contextual pedagogical approach to nurture spiritual intelligence and character.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan menggambarkan implementasi program tahfidz Al-Qur’an sebagai media pengembangan kognitif dan karakter anak usia dini di TK Rumah Qur’an Humairah, Kecamatan Stabat, Kabupaten Langkat. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus, melibatkan satu guru tahfidz, empat orang tua, dan empat anak usia 4–5 tahun. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pola pengembangan nilai kognitif dan karakter anak yang tumbuh melalui metode talaqqi dan pengulangan hafalan bertahap sesuai usia dan gaya belajar anak. Dukungan guru dan orang tua menjadi faktor kunci dalam menjaga motivasi dan konsistensi hafalan anak. Program tahfidz di lembaga ini berkontribusi dalam membentuk perilaku religius, disiplin, dan daya ingat yang lebih terarah, meskipun masih terdapat kendala seperti keterbatasan ruang dan kapasitas guru pemula. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa integrasi tahfidz dalam pendidikan anak usia dini dapat menjadi pendekatan pedagogis kontekstual untuk menumbuhkan kecerdasan spiritual dan karakter anak.
